Current SDBEA President, has been a member since 2003 and has served on the board for more than 4 years. On the board, he has served as Education Chair as well as Vice President. A former Chief Engineer and winner of several awards including the Building Engineer of the Year Award, he is and has been an active contributor to the engineering community in San Diego for 16 years. He holds several facilities related certifications from BOMI, LEED, NWEEC, ESCO, etc….and has managed and maintained all varieties of facilities from high rise class “A” office to an entire region of Bio-tech facilities. His primary focus and much of his background is sustainability and critical environments. Ray has recently shifted his knowledge from the facilities maintenance and management industry and is now a Project Sales Consultant for Jackson & Blanc. He is passionate about the success of the local industry and an advocate for Engineers growth and education.

Bob Jones currently serving as Vice President & Education chair for SDBEA. Bob oversees 8 buildings consisting of over 1 million square feet and has responsibility for the overall building operations located in La Jolla, California. With a staff of 9 engineers, Bob and his team excel at delivering an unparalleled customer experience, in addition to increasing the performance and value of the Irvine Company assets. Bob has 20 years in the office engineering & 10 years in the hi-tech industrial in facility operations, maintenance, and management. Vice President of Operations with Paragon Services Engineering. As the VP of Operations Jack is responsible for new business development, as well as professional, managerial, technical, and administrative functions of the engineering division of Paragon Services Engineering. The company employs over 250 skilled tradesmen who operate maintain and manage over 60 mm square feet of real estate comprised of high rise buildings, suburban campuses, industrial parks, shopping centers, data centers, and biotech facilities. Jack has been a member of the SDBEA since he moved to San Diego in 2010. He has been an Executive Board Member serving as the Treasurer for the SDBEA since 2011. Jack’s background spans decades of experience in the facilities management and engineering field, Mr. Bennings has held numerous managerial positions with a number of leading Real Estate Management Firms. His facilities and engineering background includes managing a Mission Critical Data Center for a Fortune 100 Company, Class “A” Office Buildings, Critical Hospital Environments, Medical Research Institutions, Universities, and Mass Transit Facilities. Responsibilities have included the administration of budgets, contract management, capital projects, and construction management. Technical experience includes the coordination and oversight of the base build-out of 338,500 square feet of tenant office space. He played an integral part in the upgrade of a Tier II Data Center to a Tier IV level, which included the construction of a 29,000 square foot energy plant, the installation of dual 15 KV, 7.5 MW diesel generator plants, integration of three 1.8 MW UPS systems, chiller plant upgrade to 3,250 tons, 100 new 30 ton CRAH units, and the piping distribution replacement under the raised data center floor, all without any disruption to the data center operations. Mr. Bennings holds Engineering Licenses in multiple jurisdictions for low and high pressure steam plant operation, refrigeration, energy auditing, is BOMA certified and a LEED Green Associate. He is active with various trade organizations including the SDBEA, BOMA, IFMA, US Green Building Council, 7X24, and AFCOM.
Has over 30 years of widespread experience with Facilities and Marine operations has allowed him to work in a verity of related fields to strengthen his diversity in many areas. He further expanded his skills into Project and Real Estate management rounding out his skills. Michael managed over 2 million square feet of Judicial, Detention, Commercial and Historic properties for a local government agency. An active member of the SDBEA since 2002 serving as President, other elected officials and as a Director for most of his membership. He served as the Co-Chairs on the Membership and Education committees. Holds an AS degree in Electronics, Certifications in Facilities Management & Energy Efficiency from UCSD, Facilities Management Professional from IFMA and Building Operator Certification from the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council. He is an avid woodworker involved in the outreach efforts of the San Diego Fine Woodworker Association in Design in Wood events at the San Diego Fair to construct children’s chair to donate to needy charities.
Past President for the SDBEA. He has held several leadership positions within the SDBEA, serving as VP for two years and most notably chairing the Annual Golf Tournament for 4 years which funds the SDBEA scholarship program. Thor has also served as the Awards Chair for the last 4 years. Thor is the Branch Manager of ABM Engineering San Diego.
An instrumental leader over the past several years in his involvement with the SDBEA, serving as Vice President for 2 years, then the President for 2 years, and he was one of the SDBEA founding members. As Director of Engineering for The Irvine Company, Wayne oversees 53 buildings consisting of over 4.5 million square feet and has responsibility for the overall building operations of the La Jolla Office & Campus Office Portfolio. With a staff of 24 engineers, Wayne and his team excel at delivering an unparalleled customer experience, in addition to increasing the performance and value of the Irvine Company assets. With both BA and Masters degrees, along with his 25 years in the engineering industry, Wayne has extensive experience in facility operations, maintenance and management. He has held senior leadership positions on both the owner and contractor sides of operations with companies including Equity Office, Burnham Real Estate, CBRE, Koll and Trammel Crow.
Steve Denny is a Retired Chief Engineer who first started his career in the late 70’s working on Class A Office Buildings, all local properties of San Diego. Projects were Centerside 1, Regents 1, 610 West Ash, First Interstate Plaza & First National Bank Center where I spent 20 years managing & also retiring from the industry. In 1994 I joined three other engineers who founded the SDBEA organization which has been helping engineers and managers though the years. I am still active with some consulting from time to time for Paragon Services which keeps me active in the trade.
Director of Business Development for Bill Howe Plumbing, Heating and Air has been an active member of SDBEA for 6 years and served as Community Outreach Chair for SDBEA for 5 years. She has been in the industry for over 15 years. Jessica develops, retains & grows business in the San Diego Market, has served on the board for 4 years and was recognized as 2014 Allied member of the Year. Jessica studied psychology at SDSU and is always looking for ways to further develop her skills in fostering relationships. She has traveled to Paris and Spain and is looking forward to her next adventure. Jessica and her Husband Sean have an active 10-year old Chocolate Labrador and recently rescued a Yellow Lab/Charpai Mix. She and her husband are truly lucky in love.
Nicole is an Account Manager and Service Sales Rep at Red Hawk Fire & Security. Nicole is responsible for prospecting, creating, managing and maintaining Customer relationships with a focus in large and small portfolio accounts for Property Management, Hospitality, Healthcare and Retail vertical markets. Nicole has been with Red Hawk Fire & Security for 10 years and has been an Account Manager for four plus years. Prior to being an Account Manager Nicole was the Service and Testing Coordinator for Red Hawk for 6 years. Nicole has been an Allied Member with SDBEA for over 3 years and is currently the Membership Committee Chair.
Mike is currently in his third year working on the service maintenance team at Pacific Rim Mechanical. He has worked in the commercial real estate services industry for the past 6 years and has been involved with SDBEA for the past 3 years. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the Fermanian Business and Economic Institute at his alma mater, Point Loma Nazarene University. Mike lives in Mission Hills and enjoys spending his free time travelling, sailing, surfing and camping.
Sabrina currently works for ServiceMaster Absolute Water & Fire Damage Services and has been in the industry for about 6 years. Sabrina has IICRC certifications including Water Restoration Technician and Fire & Smoke Restoration. She is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo, is a group fitness instructor and has been involved with other organizations like BOMA, IFMA and SDIAA. She has many strengths that benefit the Association and has established the Communications Committee from the ground up.
Wesley Dymek is a successful engineering and management professional with a diverse history of providing services to a variety of manufacturing and commercial real estate industries. Wesley has developed a comprehensive background in the development and implementation of Total Maintenance Management (TMM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) solutions. He was successful providing training and staff development at numerous facilities throughout the country. Prior to joining Paragon Services, Wesley was responsible for multiple high-profile projects including the total facilitation of 120mm combustible tank ammunition production for NATO countries. Also, he was responsible for the development and management of processes producing wiring components for the space shuttle wire harnessing systems. In his current position with Paragon Services, Wesley oversees and directs all engineering operations in their California and Nevada markets. He is an active member of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of San Diego and Orange counties, the San Diego Building Engineers Association (SDBEA), as well as the Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE). A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Wesley holds degrees in Electrical Engineering and Management.
Brooke has been involved with SDBEA for 5 years. She has been with Irvine Company since 2012 and currently is the Assistant Manager of Operations at Symphony Tower. Prior to joining Irvine Company, Brooke gained experience in the engineering and restoration industries.
Mark is the Inspection, Test and Maintenance Manager at Western Fire Protection, Inc. Mark has worked in the Fire Protection Industry for over 20 years. His experience includes inspections, installation, design, service and repair. Mark has been employed with Western Fire Protection for the past 10 years. He is professionally affiliated with SDBEA, IFMA, BOMA, AFSA and SDFDA. Mark enjoys fighting fire as much as preventing it and worked as the lead EMT at Cajon Speedway. He is still active in auto racing. Mark loves spending time with his wife of 22 years, his three children and one grandson and involved with many sport activities.
Barry has worked in the restoration industry for over 17 years and represented J&M Keystone Restoration for more than 13 years. He has been an active member of the SDBEA for more than 10 years and serves as the 2012 membership chair. Barry graduated from SDSU, is IICRC certified in water damage, lives in Pacific Beach with his beautiful wife, Juliet. He loves to travel, golf, surf and have fun with family & friends.
Ernie began his career with CB Richard Ellis in 2009 as a Building Engineer for the HCP Inc. Medical Office Building portfolio. He has worked on the HCP Inc. portfolio for seven years and was specifically requested to remain with the client through a change in management companies. During first year with the HCP Inc. portfolio, his team was awarded TOBY Building Office of the Year in 2007. Ernie has achieved great success in creating and implementing cost reduction programs throughout the HCP, Inc. portfolio. He was promoted to Chief Building Engineer in 2010.
Jeffery has been with CBRE real estate services for over six years. Working as an engineer for three properties including Nobel Executive Center, Carlsbad Commerce Center and Coral Tree commerce center. He is responsible for tenant and vendor interaction, overseeing TI’s and all maintenance management. He is a journeyman electrician and welder, licensed locksmith and BOC certified. He has won several awards including Team Player of the Year, CBRE Building Engineer of the Year, Best Building Practices Award and was nominated for SDBEA Building Engineer of the Year in 2016. He has been a member of SDBEA for 6 years.
Mr. Michael Curl joined ECS / Albireo Energy in 2010 and has more than 11 years of controls experience. His experience includes 5 years as a Controls Engineering Specialist with US Air Conditioning Distributors with experience as a design engineering assistant, technical support, programmer and sales specialist with Carrier Controls and Johnson Controls prior to joining ECS/ Albireo Energy. Mr. Curl’s experience in Carrier Controls and Johnson Controls systems, building and process control systems has been essential to ECS’ / Albireo Energy’s’ success in the Service department. He is well known and respected by many local mechanical contractors, and building owners and his peers. Mr. Curl is responsible for acquiring and maintaining Service Agreements for both the DDC controls and the Fire side of Service department. Mr. Curl completed a Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) program at Palomar Community College in 200. He has served on the SDBEA board as an advisor for two years.
